The Essex Treasurer/Tax Collector reminds citizens that Fiscal Year 2018 Real Estate and Personal Property bills were mailed on September 29, 2017. Second quarter bills are due on November 1, 2017.
Tax Bills are mailed to the taxpayer's address if known or to the property address. Mortgage companies are not mailed copies of tax bills by cities or towns. Please be sure to contact your mortgage company to learn their individual policy for receiving your tax bill.
Property owners may access www.essexma.org to pay their bills online. The payment module can be found on the home page Pay Bills Online
Payments must be received, not post marked, by the due date to avoid interest and penalties.
All payments should include enough information to accurately post the payment. Banking online bill payers may want to take advantage of the memo field to include bill reference. Real Estate payments should include RE and Bill Number reference on check. Personal Property payments should include PP and Bill Number reference on check.
Checks received without payment reference may be returned. Interest charges apply on all late payments.
Office hours are Monday through Thursday 7:30 AM - 3:30 PM, closed to the public on Friday.
